FIN001 – Introduction to Personal Finance

This class is targeted at adults above the age of 16 who are employees, unemployed or business owners. The goal of the class is to empower participants to establish and implement sound and sustainable financial goals.

Ganiyah Tope Dada, an international Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) based in Washington DC. Ganiyah has 15 years accounting and financial management experience from Big Four public accounting firms, fortune 500 corporations and nonprofit organizations within the USA and Africa. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, Nigeria (1993) and a Masters in Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School in Emory University in Atlanta, USA (2003).In addition to her professional accounting career, Ganiyah founded and serves as the Global Executive Director of United for Kids Foundation, a tax exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational and healthcare opportunities to less privileged children in Nigeria.Ganiyah developed a strong passion for personal finance at a young age of ten; one of her greatest life missions is teaching people, especially women, minorities and small business owners personal finance concepts in clear and easy to understand language. Her hobbies include traveling and writing. She writes a personal finance column in Azizah magazine and blogs about personal finance at www.ourfinancialcoach.com.
