Hall Overflows at Simply Internet for Teens Workshop

ILIA's innovative course COM 107, Simply Internet and a Bit More was offered for the first time ever at Islamic Community Center of Laurel (ICCL) on Sat Feb 21st, 2015.


Alhamedellah, ILIA’s workshop for preteens and teens ages 10-14 sold out and the hall was overflowing with over 75 youth and 20 parents interested in learning about the opportunities and risks of the Internet. Despite the snow and low temperature dozens of families showed up to get a glimpse of the exciting topics shared by Mr. Nassar, ILIA’s Founder and President. The workshop provided overview of the concept of information authenticity, data transfer, architecture, social tools, laws and regulations of the Internet and opportunities and risk of the internet. The workshop also provided an opportunity for the Howard County Police Dept to share best practices on Internet safety. The workshop is one of a series of workshops in ILIA’s Communications Leadership Certificate for youth and adults. The program was sponsored by Islamic Community Center of Laurel and the Howard County Police Dept, designed, developed and delivered by Islamic Leadership Institute of America (ILIA).
