ILIA Attends Howard County Cultural Competence
Mr. Nassar shared
On March 3rd and 4th, ILIA has joined over 45 local leaders from various Howard County agencies and non-profits at the Cultural Competence workshop, an event organized and delivered by the Howard County Public School System, and Howard County Government. The program provides local leaders with unique insights into diversity issues, cultural competency and a deep analysis at the fabric of the county.
ILIA’s chairman, Mr. Nassar shared that “the event is a great outreach and networking opportunity for everyone involved, and not just a technical workshop on diversity and cultural competence, other leaders in Howard County have become more aware of ILIA, Muslims and the values Muslims bring to America”, he further added “we [participants] have become very close to one another during these two days, and I feel I have built strong binds with people I never met before and it is as if we been friends for quite awhile, its just so inspirational”.
The workshops are offered over three full days and are a series of community development programs Howard County has been developing local capacity within the county. The third day will be offered later during the month of March.
