ILIA’s Green Sprouts Featured Out of 200 Gardens in Baltimore
Alhamedellah ILIA’s Green Sprouts garden, a platform used for leadership development for children, pre-teens and teens, and a bridge between youth and seniors has been featured in a letter by Parks and People Foundation CEO, Anthony Rodgers to hundreds of non-profits and government agencies across the region.
“This is a great milestone for Muslims in the region and ILIA as an organization. ILIA is being recognized by experts in various domains as a leader in the work it pursues”, stated Ayman Nassar, ILIA’s founder. The hard work of Dr Shehata and his team has brought good attention to the Muslim community in the cental Maryland region, and is good outreach. Green Sprouts feature is a highlight of the care Muslims have for experiential education and innovative ideas in youth development, besides care for the earth.
It is worth mentioning that ILIA was selected in 2013 for a grant to develop Green Sprouts and the grant was used to provide educational opportunities for 2 teens and dozens of children. Hundreds of hours of education and experiential service learning have been attained through Green Sprouts. Green Sprouts is one of four ILIA leadership development clubs which focus on leadership trait and style development through a focus on a particular subject, in this case gardening.
