Nondiscrimination Policy

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to ensure fair service of all ILIA community members.

Scope: Policy applies to all ILIA students, potential students, directors, employees, volunteers, officers, instructors and others who are part of the ILIA community.

Policy:

  1. ILIA prohibits discrimination against any member of the Islamic Leadership Institute community on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, disability, or status as a veteran. ILIA will conduct its programs, services and activities consistent with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and orders.

  2. ILIA views, evaluates, and treats all persons in any ILIA related activity, capacity or circumstance in which they may be involved, solely as individuals on the basis of their own personal abilities, qualifications, and other relevant characteristics.

Reciprocal Respect Policy

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to ensure mutual respect among all members of the ILIA community.

Scope: Policy applies to and not limited to ILIA's directors, instructors, staff, students, officers, suppliers and volunteers.

Policy: All members of the ILIA community must be able to purse their goals, educational needs, and working lives without intimidation or injury generated by intolerance and harassment. Freedom of thought and expression are the lifeblood of our academic community, and require an atmosphere of mutual respect among diverse persons, groups, and ideas. The maintenance of mutually respectful behavior is a procedure for the vigorous exchange of ideas, and it is the policy of ILIA to promote such behavior in all forms of expression and conduct.

Honor Code

Purpose: The purpose of this code is to uphold the highest levels of integrity within ILIA

Scope: Policy applies to all ILIA students, potential students, directors, employees, volunteers, officers, instructors and others who are part of the ILIA community, including visitors, suppliers and others not directly affiliated with ILIA.

Policy:

  1. It is the policy of ILIA to ensure a environment free from deception, cheating, back biting, dishonesty, rumors and suspicion.

  2. Cheating, dishonesty will result in immediate termination of a student from an ILIA program or an employee or volunteer from ILIA's service.

  3. Dishonesty includes sharing confidential information about ILIA, its programs, services or members of its community with external entities; use of ILIA resources without proper authorizations; abuse of ILIA's intellectual capital.

  4. In certain cases of deception, cheating, back biting, dishonesty, rumors and suspicion counseling and/or legal action could be pursued.

Program Refund Policy

Purpose: Document the policy related to program fees refunds

Scope: Policy applies to all ILIA programs and students

Policy:

  1. Students can receive 100% refund 7 days prior to the program start date, students can receive a 50% refund 5 days prior to the program start date, students can receive a 20% refund one day prior the program start date.

  2. To receive refund the student must email ILIA at or before the above deadlines.

  3. No refunds shall be provided once the program started.

  4. 100% refunds can be provided if ILIA is notified prior to 5pm EST on the first day of the event for emergency cases such as medical conditions, loss of family member, divorce or other similar emergency situations.

  5. Post program refunds should be submitted in writing, within 48 hours of class completion. An ILIA committee will review the submitted form within 7 days.

Anti-Harassment Policy

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to prevent harassment within the ILIA community. ILIA believes that harassment is repugnant and inimical to our most basic values.

Scope: Policy applies to all ILIA students, potential students, directors, employees, volunteers, officers, instructors and others who are part of the ILIA community, including visitors, suppliers and others not directly affiliated with ILIA.

Policy:

  1. It is the policy of ILIA to maintain the ILIA environment as a place of work and study for faculty, staff, and students free from all forms of harassment. In providing an educational and work climate that is positive and harassment-free, faculty, staff, and students should be aware that harassment in the workplace or the educational environment is unacceptable conduct and will not be tolerated.

  2. ILIA reaffirms its commitment to freedom of speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, and Islamic principles and values. Accordingly, any form of speech or conduct that is protected by the First Amendment is not subject to this policy. ILIA reaffirms its commitment to academic freedom, which is essential to its educational mission and is critical to diversity and intellectual life.

  3. Harassment is conduct towards another person or identifiable group of persons that has the purpose or effect of:

  • creating an intimidating or hostile educational environment, work environment, or environment for participation in an ILIA activity;

  • unreasonably interfering with a person's educational environment, work environment, or environment for participation in an ILIA activity; or

  • unreasonably affecting a person's educational or work opportunities or participation in an ILIA activity.

  1. Racial harassment is conduct that demonstrates hostility towards another person (or identifiable group of persons) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, or ancestry, and that has the purpose or effect of:

  • creating an intimidating or hostile educational environment, work environment, or environment for participation in an ILIA activity;

  • unreasonably interfering with a person's educational environment, work environment, or environment for participation in an ILIA activity; or

  • unreasonably affecting a person's educational or work opportunities or participation in an ILIA activity.

  1. Sexual harassment is any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favors, or other written, verbal, or physical conduct of a sexual nature when:

  • submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual‟s employment, education, or participation in an ILIA activity;

  • submission to, or rejection of, such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for, or a factor in, decisions affecting that individual‟s employment, education, or participation in a ILIA activity; or

  • such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's employment or academic performance or creating an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment for that individual's employment, education, or participation in an ILIA activity.
