Basketball Coach
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to provide youth and young adults with meaningful Basketball practice and competition experiences to build character, and stronger life skills.
Role Qualifications:
College student majoring in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field.
Previous experience in training basketball and preparing teams for competitions.
A solid understanding of the game, its rules, conditions, expectations, exceptions and team practice needs.
Must be in top physical condition.
Be able to motivate players.
Good leadership skills.
Attention to detail.
Strong memory and concentration skills.
Strong organization skills.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures related to interacting with youth, basketball players and participation in tournaments.
Ability to work with vendors and partners to deliver program objectives.
Responsibilities:
Coach and train players on the game and the rules.
Studying the skills and abilities of the players to maximize performance.
Devising play strategies.
Developing ideas to optimize performance.
Providing mentorship.
Teaching players strategies to successfully compete in tournaments.
Work with vendors to order team gear, supplies and equipment.
Supervise the storage of equipment.
Training assistant coaches.
Chaperone youth during programs and supervise safe spaces
Contact parents and brief on youth performance as needed
Develop personalized reports for each player.
Track attendance and performance.
Communicate with players through text messaging, email and social media to build strong youth engagement.
Writing email messages, social media posts and updating web pages for the program
